This paper focused on the delay inherent to various lightpath activation
schemes using the novel [4] OTN-DCN model with dissimilar
data and control latencies. Two existing schemes were discussed
and two variants of a new scheme were proposed. The four schemes
were compared through experiments based on the time-to-restore metric.
Initial results from the experiments confirm that the proposed schemes
offer lower setup delays thus minimizing packet loss
during restoration. The proposed schemes also exhibit resilient scaling
behavior benefiting from the natural structure of DCN internetworks.
