WRR and WIPL

This page and its subpages describes two Linux programs and an extension to them. The two programs are completely independent yet related to the same subject: Bandwidth management and monitoring in IP computer networks.

The wipl program package is a comparatively well-tested and well-documented collection of programs which can be used to monitor network traffic.

The wrr program (or scheduler) is not really a program but an extension to the Linux 2.2 and 2.4 kernels that makes it possible to make fair bandwidth distributions for example on internet connections.

The proxyremap package contains programs and patches which will allow some proxy servers to give information to wipl and wrr about which packets from and to the proxy server originates from which local machines.

There is a mailing list for wipl, wrr and proxyremap.
