UNH and Enterasys Announce New Partnership; Includes $20,000 Annually in Scholarships

DURHAM, N.H. – Enterasys Networks and the University of New Hampshire recently announced an expanded partnership that will bring state-of-the-art technology to the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) as well as provide students with paid internships and enhanced technical education and training. In addition, Enterasys will expand on existing relationships with the university’s InterOperability Laboratory for product quality assurance and testing.

 “UNH and Enterasys have a rich history of collaboration and we are proud to have the opportunity to expand our partnership to better showcase the university’s outstanding faculty and students while enhancing the learning experience,” said Daniel Dulac ‘96, vice president of worldwide solutions engineering at Enterasys and one of more 40 UNH alums currently working at the company with roots in the Granite State.  

Each year Enterasys will provide two juniors with one-year paid internships and award them each a $10,000 scholarship. In addition, the company will provide switching and routing equipment to outfit a wired/wireless networking and/or classroom in Kingsbury Hall and equip a meeting room in the engineering library with video conferencing capability.

“This partnership will provide our students with incredible hands-on experience and on-the-job-training,” said Samuel Mukasa, dean of CEPS and a 1977 graduate of UNH. “UNH produces a majority of the engineers and computer scientists currently working in the state and as we emerge from the recession the demand will only continue to grow. This partnership is not only a win for our students and faculty, but crucial for the future success of the state’s economy.” 

In addition to the internships, Enterasys employees will speak to first-year students each fall about career opportunities in the computer networking and security industry, provide a summer internship program for all students, and host the middle and high school students who participate in UNH’s summer Tech Camp.

Enterasys will also provide funding for a summer intern in the IOL and donate more than $300,000 worth of equipment to the neutral, third-party laboratory dedicated to testing data networking technologies through industry collaboration.
