Meltwater Group is seeking to expand its global operations team with an Operations Engineer, based in Southern NH.

The Meltwater Group is looking to expand its international production support team. Meltwater Group is a global leader in Software As A Service (SaaS) applications and a specialist in on-line media monitoring.

We need people who have fully understood the web and its inner workings, who are not satisfied with "good enough" performance and two nines uptime. Switching context multiple times over the day without getting distracted, they will support different complex systems; in case of emergencies, they will be available and restore normal system state in the shortest time possible. This job requires a flexible schedule to allow for off-hour and weekend work. During the flexible working hours, they will improve monitoring and automation, do routine maintenance on 200+ node clusters and consult the dev teams in terms of scalability and stability.

The Operations team is currently based in Tokyo, Berlin and San Francisco. There will be the opportunity to travel and work from these places. We offer a competitive salary and benefits.

Description:

- work together with development teams to ensure/improve maintainability and performance of applications

- work together with vendors to create monitoring scripts and keep them up to date with changing applications

- improve our application monitoring framework

- further automate deployments, configuration and day-to-day maintenance

- troubleshoot problems on OS, platform and code level

- cooperate with vendors and development teams to create new and expand existing clusters

 Requirements:

+ minimum:

- Linux, (ba)sh

- Java, Ruby

- second scripting language - Perl, Python, ECMAScript

- Hibernate/Spring, Rails

- Tomcat, Apache, MySQL, MySQL shards

- experience in working with clusters (ideally 50+ machines)

- 2+ years of industry experience or impressive private projects

+ optimal:

- various NoSQL approaches (HBase, MongoDB, Riak, Membase)

- capistrano, chef/puppet

- Lucene
