Position: R&D Engineer for Product Development Group

Job Description: Segway is searching for a creative, analytical R&D Engineer to work as part of our Product Development Group. Utilize systems engineering skills across a variety of engineering disciplines to develop innovative transportation solutions with unique capabilities.
Responsibilities: Provide engineering support - design, develop and implement control systems, human-machine interfaces and safety architectures involving the advancement of self-balancing technologies. Support new product introduction and existing products by establishing system requirements and design verification criteria.
Perform mechanical and electrical engineering assignments involving research, development, design, fabrication and testing of electrical and electromechanical components, equipment, controllers, devices and systems with a focus on system level performance and prototype evaluation. Analyze major project tasks, define specifications, develop tools, resolve hardware/software compatibility and interface problems and analyze system architecture. Coordinate with technical support personnel to conduct prototype or experimental runs for products or processes.
Requirements: To succeed, candidate must have a BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering or Computer engineering/science and 2-4 years of related engineering experience. New Grads considered. Prior experience will include systems engineering of embedded control systems, implementation of real-time algorithms in C on embedded platforms and mechanical, electrical, and software aspects of safety critical systems. Experience using computer-based analysis tools such as Matlab, Simulink, MathCad.

NASA-USRP offers undergraduate student internships at NASA centers across the United States under the supervision of technical mentors. This prestigious program seeks rising sophomore, junior and senior students in the disciplines of engineering, math, computer science and life/physical sciences. Students may apply for 10-week summer session and 15-week spring or fall sessions. NASA-USRP provides students with hands-on, real-life research experiences that challenge, inspire and bring practical application to complement the students' academic education. Stipends are $6,000 for the summer session and $9,000 for fall and spring, plus a round-trip travel allowance.
